My role: product designer

Team: 1 product designer, co-founders, and 1 developer

Clia is a climate tech startup on a mission to connect climate project owners, companies and consumers to fight climate change together.

I collaborated with co-founders and a developer to design and build the Minimum Valuable Product.

Personas & correpsonding pain points

  • Small to medium sized companies (persona 1) lack infrastructure and resources to offset their carbon emission and contribute to sustainable development.
  • Climate project owners (persona 2) need consistent funding in order to continue investing in their projects and drive impacts.

How Does Clia Work?

Clia API Integration

Companies call Clia API to estimate carbon footprint for customers’ order —> round up costumer’s purchase total while providing enticing perks in return.

Clia Dashboard

The centralized platform that connects climate project owners and companies to achieve their individual needs.

Prioritization

For climate project owners, Clia dashboard is exactly the type of product they needed. Meetings with prospective clients also confirmed our assumptions

We need consistent funding to continuously working on projects that help alleviate climate change even just little by little

For project owners and company

The team did a comprehensive competitor analysis on the Latin America market carbon offset vendors. I quickly prototyped the interface for the project owner and company user personas.

For customers

Customers get incentivized (can be coupons from their own brand, from sister company, or anything else that financially makes sense) by the company when they choose to offset their carbon footprint. We integrated the Clia API into Shopify platform to ensure seamless and safe transactions.

Leaning and Reflections

Clia tapped into a much needed however ambitious problem space — climate technology. In the short 3 months period of involvement, we analyzed the market and tested ideas. By the end of the summer, the team had to take a pause due to the complexity nature of the problem and lack of financial support. However, this experience reinforced my resilience and adaptability as a designer. It taught me to navigate uncertain waters, think creatively under constraints, and persevere in the face of adversity. These valuable lessons have shaped me into a more resilient and resourceful designer, equipping me with the skills and determination to thrive in the ever-evolving world of product design.
